Welcome back from the Easter break; the children have enjoyed sharing their holiday adventures with each other and have been writing about their holidays this week in the form of a postcard. They also enjoyed using the paint tools on the computer to make pictures for the front of their postcards.
In Maths the children have been learning about the inverse of addition and have been writing number sentences, using addition and subtraction. They have been investigating word problems and describing mystery numbers for others to guess.
We have started reading the story "The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch," and the children are very excited about our new topic "The Sea." In English we have revisited adjectives by creating delicious lunches for the Lighthouse Keeper. Next week we will think about disgusting lunches to deter the seagulls from stealing it.
In Science we have started learning about plants and we are enjoyed growing potatoes!
Next Friday is "Ice -Cream Friday" when you will be able to buy an ice-cream in the car park after school- proceeds are going to Reception year this time.
Permission slips for our trip to Bexhill have been sent home in book bags. Please complete both parts of the letter and return it to school as soon as possible, together with a voluntary contribution of £10 in an envelope with your child's name on the front. Year one will be going on Wednesday 3rd May. We currently have enough helpers (we are limited by spaces on the coach) but if you would like to come and are willing to drive yourself, we would love to have you, the more the merrier!
Please don't send in any more junk modelling for the time being. Thank you for all your contributions, we now have plenty!
If you would like to take our lovely guinea pigs home for the weekend, please let us know so we can add you to our rota for this term.
Have a lovely weekend
