Just to remind you all that the new website can be found at http://www.st-james-infant.kent.sch.uk/ Each class has a page with all the contact notes on, there is a calendar of events and other really useful information.
This week in Literacy we have been planning a story about going back in time to the time of the dinosaurs and the adventure that might happen there. The children have told their stories to each other and suggested improvements. They have also had the opportunity to act them out before we write them on Monday. In Maths we have continued to learn about fractions, understanding that the bottom number (denominator) tells us how many equal parts we are dividing our shape or number into, and the top number (numerator) tells us how many of the parts we want. This week we have been particularly concentrating on finding the fraction of a number using counters, buttons or beads. In History we have been learning about Mary Anning and her amazing fossil finds in Lyme Regis.
The words for next week: sugar, sure, father, class, pass, plant, bath, be, bee, favourite. Please practice these at home.
Next week we will be writing our stories and thinking about our choice of vocabulary to make it more Interesting. In Maths we will be continuing to learn fractions ½, ¼ , 1/3 , ¾ . We will be linking this to division by seeing that ½ is the same as dividing by 2. We are also going to be continuing to look at leaning to tell the time to the nearest ¼ of an hour.

We hope you have a good weekend
