This week we have been leaning to identify the word classes; noun (person, place or thing) , adjective (describes a noun), verb (doing word) and adverb (describes the verb). In phonics we have been learning about homophones, words that sound the same but are spelt differently. We have been revising how to extend sentences by using or, but and because . In maths we have been consolidating how to make or draw an array (pattern of dots e.g. 4 rows of 5 dots= 4x5) to support our multiplication understanding (see if your child can show you what this is). In Mental Maths we have been starting to learn our 2, 5 and 10 times tables by listening to some songs. Please practice these.
Next week we are going to be focusing on non-fiction texts to learn about dinosaurs and using this write sentences to compare different dinosaurs. In maths we are investigating the idea that multiplication can be done in any order (commutative). In computing we are learning to write an algorithm (ask your children what it is!!)
Next week in Literacy the words for next week are; loudly, parents, clothes, blue, blew, carry, carries, fossil, family, families Please practice these.
