Welcome back from the Easter break; the children have enjoyed sharing their holiday adventures with each other and have been writing about their holidays this week. In RE we have finished our Easter topic and will begin to explore a new unit of work next week.
In Maths the children have been learning about the inverse of addition and have been writing number sentences, using addition and subtraction. They have been investigating word problems and describing mystery numbers for others to guess.
In English the children have been writing letters and postcards, thinking about features of letter writing and practicing all their writing skills, such as using capital letters and full stops ; making sure sentences make sense; using phonic skills to spell words and writing letters on the line. We have started reading the story "The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch," and the children are very excited about our new topic "The Sea."
In Science we have started learning about plants and we are looking forward to doing some gardening in our outdoor area over the next few weeks.
Next Friday is "Ice -Cream Friday" when you will be able to buy an ice-cream in the car park after school- proceeds are going to Reception year this time.
Permission slips for our trip to Bexhill and have been sent home in book bags. Please complete both parts of the letter and return it to school as soon as possible, together with a voluntary contribution of £10 in an envelope with your child's name on the front. Year one will be going on Wednesday 3rd May.
If you would like to take our lovely guinea pigs home for the weekend, please let us know so we can add you to our rota.
Have a lovely weekend
