On Tuesday we had our e-safety day. Each class had a workshop in which they learnt how to stay safe online. We learnt that with personal information (Name, birthday, address, school, etc. ) we must zip it, block it and flag it.
We are sending home today several important letters, one is an e-safety agreement letter for you to read with your child, sign and return after half term.
This week in Literacy we have been learning the suffix ment (enjoyment) and ness (sadness). We have been practising saying them in sentences and we have had a go at writing them in sentences. We have made our own fact book about dinosaurs after identifying features of a nonfiction text. In Maths we have continued to learn about division (we are getting really good at this!) We are able to share between groups and write the number sentence to go with this. We have also been practising to tell the time using o’clock, half past, quarter past and quarter to. If you can practise telling the time at home over the holidays that would be great.
The words for next week are table, apple, bottle, little, money, television, treasure, people, busy, bath
After half term our focus will be on fiction writing. We will be using the story ‘the Magic Key’ to link to the dinosaur topic. We will also be focussing on the different word classes (noun, adverb, adjective and verb). We will be playing games to help us with this and have a go at identifying them in sentences. In Maths we will be continuing with division. We will be solving problems involving division and using the inverse to check our answers (e.g 2 x 3 = 6 and 6 ÷3 = 2).
On Tuesday 28th February each class from year 2 are going to Tunbridge Wells Museum. Willow class will be leaving school at 10.45am and returning to school around 12.40pm . We will need 4 parent helpers to walk down and back with us. If you are able to please could you put a note your child’s contact book.
Sorry there is no newsletter, Mrs Shakleton is on compassionate leave.
We hope you have a lovely half term
