We hope you had a good break. We have had a lovely first week and the children seem rested. We have been focusing on measuring in Maths this week (ml, l, kg, g, m, cm and ˚C). We had lots of fun using the outdoor area measuring length, mass and capacity. The children wrote a recount of their Easter Holidays and used spelling rules for writing in the past tense. We have enjoyed reading the story ‘The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch’. We wrote our own list of ingredients for lunch and wrote instructions for how to make it.
The words for the week are: friend, push, pull, steak, break, every, says, sandwich, eat, ate
Next week we will be focusing on retelling the story of the Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch using our new Lighthouse role play. In Maths we will be focusing on working out addition, subtraction, multiplication and division number sentences making sure we do all our working out (maybe ask your child to show you how they work these out!) We will also be continuing to learn about which units of measure are used for length, capacity, temperature and mass.
Just to confirm, the trip to Bexhill is on Thursday 4th May.
The children can wear their own suitable clothes (we will be on the beach!) Please check the forecast and send them dressed and prepared for the weather. (Shoulders must be covered). And suitable footwear that can get wet and has a good grip.
The children will need a back pack (not hand held bag) as they will carry everything themselves and will need their hands free for the activities.
If anyone would like to help, we are taking names and will be drawing names out of a hat if needed.
Don't forget to check the letter that came home on Wednesday and please return the slips and money to us ASAP.
We hope you have a lovely weekend
